| Summary: | Essential rapid growth of proteolytic flora, producing significant amount of ammonia gas and end products of protein metabolism, plays important role in the pathogenesis of hepatic encephalopathy (PE) — that substances enter the bloodstream and increase the symptoms of PE. This fact is the basis for pro- and prebiotics use to correct changes in the microflora of the colon in patients with PE. Inclusion of Mukofalk 5 g three times a day in therapy of patients with chronic liver disease promotes regression of clinical symptoms of PE, as well as improving the results of psychometric tests. Prebiotic effect of the drug was demonstrated. |
