Description
Summary:High strength S960 steel was processed by shot peening and ultrasonic spray method to fabricate a surface hardened layer with a lubricant graphene oxide(GO) coating, and the wear test was performed to evaluate the tribological behavior after the treatment. With the optimized single shot peening combing with micro-particle shot peening, the micro-hardness was increased from HV 396 to HV548, while the compressive residual stress reached up to −528 MPa. With subsequent ultrasonic spraying of GO on the shot peened S960 samples, the micro-structure characterization indicated that GO was successfully deposited on the shot-peened samples. The wear test results showed that the friction coefficient was decreased from 0.58 to 0.41 after surface treatment, and wear volume was also decreased effectively. The enhanced surface hardness, compressive residual stress and GO lubricant coatings were responsible for it.
