description | Cataloging of written pieces of art is a process that requires more cooperation and expertise compared to pressed pieces of art. Determination of artistic, physical and contextual properties of pieces of art and inputting them to suitable standard qualification fields requires advanced cataloging knowledge and experience. MARC (21) metadata standard which were developed for cataloging info sources can also be used for written pieces of art to a great extent. However for the properties separating written piece of art from the others and give it uniqueness property and for their explanation sub fields which are located under 500 (a) General Notes field and which are suggested to be used aiming at info sources should be used. These fields will give important clues ti written piece of art librarians/managers and users for access, storage and protection processes of written pieces of art. These data will provide info about subjects such as protection conditions of pieces of art, kinds of restoration to be applied to them and accessibility info and its reasons for pieces of art and will assist in development of strategies. Above mentioned data will allow users to develop a more refined scanning strategy and to have easier ad quicker access to the pieces of art which they would like to research. In the study the usage method of note fields, which should be used for defining the pieces of art will be explained by examples and the easinesses of using this field/sub fields in cataloging and bibliographical auditing of written pieces of art will be mentioned. |
