Description
Summary:Just before the end of his adventure as a galán de monjas, Pablos leaves the convent saying «si más aguardaba, había de ver nacer mandrágoras en los locutorios». None of the editions that have been consulted in the present work clarifies the meaning of this sentence, censured in the editio princeps of the novel. The interpretation we offer, based on the narrative, historical and literary context of the galán de monjas, also takes into account an old myth about the origin of the mandrakes that could explain the meaning of the fragment.
