Summary:In China, the 1980 nationality law ended, a priori, once and for all, all ambiguities about the definition of acquisition, loss, and recovery of this legal tie with the Chinese continent. However, the relationships maintained and/or expected by Beijing with their old or new emigrants exceed this legal basis and are adapted as required by China’s needs and perceptions, as can be seen in the era opened by President Xi Jingping since 2013.
