As new techniques have been introduced, the ideal method to reduce complications and limit recurrence has become unclear. In this review, we highlight the most common methods used to treat pilonidal disease, as well as the senior author’s preferred technique for management. Ideally, surgeons are able to choose the optimal procedure for each patient and maximize outcomes with minimal patient care burden and morbidity.
