Description
Summary:In view of intensive discussions about the future chances of inland wind energy an investigation was carried out in the framework of an ad-hoc study at the Institute for Environmental Sciences (Kolshorn 2004) to what extent wind energy still possesses growth potentials even in the already strongly frequented regions of Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt and whether the political objective of the federal government of the expansion of wind energy is also being kept up at the lower levels. The study considers the dedication practice of regional and structure planning, which take in a key position in the precautionary minimization of conflicts and in the provision of land. It becomes clear in this context that the already dedicated land potentials for wind energy will tend to be reduced rather than extended in the future and that a growth of the produced wind energy can be achieved mainly by the re-powering of existing locations. The environmentally compatible management of these locations is one of the tasks of regional planning.
