Although Italy is one of the most developed countries of the world, several surveys point out that the gender-based violence and the femicide are becoming an increasingly serious problem in the country. According to many sociologists, this phenomenon comes from the survival, in the soul of many Italian men, of a very traditional view about the relationship between the two genders, based on inequality and oppression of women. The article takes into exam the novels and essays of Cristina Obber, in which the writer represents many different forms of physical and psychological violence against women: the one committed by partners and the violence which stems from religious fanaticism and homophobia.
