Description
Summary:As the Slovak Republic is poor in own energetic resources, 90% has to be imported. Brown coal is the only conspicuous fuel commodity, which can be found in Slovakia. Despite the fact that the consumption of brown coal has been decreasing, but the consumption is still higher than the production in Slovakia. This status will survive approximately till the year 2003. Then the production will be higher than the consumption. There is no centralised control checking the sale in separate regions only the total state is known. If we want to know better the future development of brown coal consumption in the whole region of Slovakia we have to know the development in smaller territories. Decreasing of brown coal consumption in Slovakia (of course in other countries as well) is caused by expanding of gas distribution to more and more consumers. Observing the development of gas distribution is the only way how to find out the decrease of brown coal consumption in smaller territories. The development of gas distribution is better defined, because there is only one gas distributor in Slovakia. It is possible to get lot of useful information about past present and future development ant to transform it into the prognosis of brown coal consumption. This prognosis has been worked out for next ten years e.i. up to 2010.
