description The literature review is devoted to a study of the etiology and basic pathogenesis steps of the central serous chorioretinopathy (CSR). Authors describe the historical facts of studying this pathology and its epidemiology. Endogenous and exogenous risk factors of the CSR development were analyzed. In discussion of main CSR pathogenesis theories the modern methods of diagnosis of intraocular structures were taken into consideration. At present a special attention is paid to disturbances of choroidal blood flow as the main cause of morphological and functional abnormalities in the CSR.
