description The citrusfruits in the area called "Niayes" in Senegal. Situated on the West Coast of Senegal, the country called "Niayes" have the advantage of good climatic conditions for the development of a Mediterranean horticulture. In addition to the European vegetable production, the country have a real vocation for the citrus crops. Because of good edaphic conditions, the species like grapefruits (Citrus paradisi) and limes (Citrus aurantifolia) are promised to a great expansion both on the national and export market. The progressive increase of the area of the orchards will allow to vary the current production of Senegal, chiefly centred on the maintenance crops. The creation of private nurseries will be a priority for the production of attested seedlings.
