Summary:Backround: Medical research has made leaps and bounds in the last 70 years from the first classical aortopulmonary anastomosis and the first extracorporeal circulation. In this way it became possible to treat children with congenital heart disease. However, as children become adolescents and adults, it should be ensured that they are not at risk for modifiable risk factors such as obesity, metabolic syndrome and predisposing factors for atherosclerosis. Obese children become obese adults so it is important to determine the impact of obesity on children with congenital heart disease so that it is possible to plan interventions to prevent and treat obesity in thisgroup. Methods: The study was conducted from November 2020 until November 2022. MEDLINE EMBASE, Scopus and Science Direct were searched and the results were registered. Results: The incidence of obesity in children with congenital heart disease was 16–22%, whereas the incidence of overweight 21–36.4% with increasing trend. Children with Fontan's surgery were more likely to be underweight, however there was a tendency for the weight to increase as the years progressed. Discussion: The rates of obesity in children are increasing. Multidisciplinary management will be needed in order to treat this new epidemic.
