Summary:In this paper, I try to show that women’s images and/or «self-images» are still infected by metaphysical bias which, at the same time, come from and determine a patriarchal/platonic version of them. My claim is that our very Enlightened philosophical notion of subjectivity still marks our understanding of identity formation. Feminism is a powerful political tool to question and renew this ontological perspective but, in order to achieve real changes, some important innovations are needed within the dominant epistemology and its Enlightened tradition.
