Summary:The paper analyzes reasons for high cardiovascular mortality in Russia and states that therapeutic work done by primary practitioners is ineffective. It gives the statistical data of the European Union, the USA, and some other countries where overmortality from cardiovascular diseases has been overcome by the governmental cardiovascular prevention and rehabilitation system. It is concluded that the experience of these countries can be applied to reduce cardiovascular overmortality in Russia
