Summary: | To identify the signs of Moldavity, the author of this article examines a cultural review Timpul / the time, typical of the town of Iasi. Since 2002 Timpul is directed by an editor-in-chief: Gabriele Gavril who was awarded a local prize for her novel Fiecare cu Budapesta lui / his Budapest for everyone. Timpul is part of the rich tradition of Iasi’s editorial past. The revue has managed to publish Moldavian authors from the other side of the Prut: Leonida Lari, Grigore Vieru, Mihail Vakulovski. His Budapest for everyone is characteristic of the courageous editorial politics of the publishing company Polirom in Iasi. Considered post-modern, this book has also been compared to films of well-known authors: Pintilie, Kusturica, Nemescu. Like many recent Romanian novels it is marked by memories of youth and adolescence under communism. It takes place principally in an emblematic place: the largest town of the two Moldavias on both sides of the Prut river. |
