| Summary: | Background. The issue of the Anglo-German military confrontation in 1940–1941 occupies an important place in the history of the World War II. At this time, the vector of Hitler’s military expansion to the East was reversed and preparations for an attack on the USSR began. The role of the German air offensive failure against England in the transfer of Hitler’s military aspirations remains a controversial topic in the domestic historiography of the World War II. This article analyzes the change in the source base of Soviet and Russian studies of the issue of the Anglo-German air war of 1940–1941. Materials and methods. This study is based on the publications of domestic and foreign researchers of the air battle over England. The comparative-historical method of research is used. Results. The conducted research made it possible to determine the influence of socio-political processes in our country and in the world on the change in the source base of domestic research on this topic. Conclusions. The high interest in this problem in the USSR was largely due to the active discussion about the main events of the World War II, actualized by the begin-ning of the Cold War. This circumstance largely determined the active expansion of the source base of domestic studies of the Anglo-German air war in the 1950s and 1960s. |
