description This paper proposes an overview of the evolution in the wood processing industry in the process of regional development. With the shift to knowledge based management, the difference made by creative networks and clusters that promote research, development and innovation is crucial. The purpose of this paper is to underline the benefits that can come from cluster development and outline the impact of clusters on innovation, Knowledge and competitiveness in the wood processing industry and the Romanian Economy.
