description | The Biogenic selenium(0) nano rods were synthesized and stabilized in citric acid and flavonoids from lemon juice by wet chemical route. As synthesized nanorods were characterized using physicochemical analysis techniques as UV–Vis, FITR, PXRD spectrometry, SEM and TEM surface morphology imaging techniques. These nano rods had exhibited trigonal Se packing lattice, 90 nm mean crystallite size and surface capping with flavonoid and citric acid functionality. The Se nanorods show selective sensing of peroxide by visible color change from reddish to faint pink and also through spectrometric sensing plots for concentrations from 60 ppm to 5 ppm with sensing limit up to 75 μM peroxide with interfering cellular cations as K, Na, Ca, Mg and Fe. These biogenic green sensor Se nano rods get converted to nano ovals after surface leaching with peroxide and show SPR based selective sensing mechanism in spectrometric plots. These developed nanorods finds suitable applications in biomedical cellular peroxide sensing with low limits through naked eye cost effective spectrometric sensing method.
