| Summary: | In Vietnam, information technology has been developing rapidly. Today, almost all organisations and firms apply information technology in their business. The question is what determines the success of information system projects? This papers aims at finding the factors influencing the success of information system projects in Ho Chi Minh City. Literature review and previous empirical studies indicate the following factors that can affect the success of information system projects: project objectives, competence of project team, information system analysis, crisis management, information and coordination, decision-making. By surveying 248 observations, regression results show that all of the above-mentioned factors have positive effects on the success of information system projects. The ranking of factors are following: project objectives, competence of project team, decision-making, crisis management, information and coordination, information system analysis. In general, these results are in conformity with theories and previous empirical studies in other countries. The recommendation is that in order for the success of information system projects the above-mentioned factors should be handled. |
