description Well-log analysis of five wells drilled in deep water of Mundaú Sub-basin, Ceará Basin, Brazilian Equatorial Margin, plus the interpretation of twenty six 2D seismic lines besides gravimetric data analysis allowed the identification of five depositional sequences in the basin’s drift section between the lower Albian and middle Eocene. Two inactive and buried volcanos, with no present expression on sea bottom, were identified, as well. Seismic stratigraphic correlation allowed a relative dating the volcanic activity as post-Paleocene. Volcanic rocks from the Mundaú Sub-basin’s shallow water previously dated between 44 a 32 Ma corroborate the ages suggested from the seismic data as post-Paleocene, possibly Mid to late Eocene
