| Summary: | This article analyzes the trajectory of institutional and legislative advances in Brazil as ways of overcoming the social pathology of corruption and as a way of expanding the concept of citizenship. Taking into account the complexity of the theme, the scope of the study includes, at first, the understanding of the concept of citizenship and its connection with fundamental rights from the theory of recognition. In the wake of this analysis it will be possible to realize that corruption works as a social pathology that prevents the development and realization of citizenship. The feeling of injustice is a catalyst for institutional changes in the sense of expanding the concept of citizenship from the institutionalization of advances in the control and fight against corruption.
