| description | Reflecting on Neoliberalism represents an essential challenge for contemporary societies. In this regard, one must consider Neoliberalism from a concrete standpoint, that is to say, from specific historical processes. There is a great diversity of neoliberal experiences in Latin America. This neoliberal experiences extend from the 1970's to the 1990's within a global and common movement. Chile initiated, and to a certain extend anticipated, this historical cycle with the 1973 coup d'Etat and the ensuing 1975 economic reforms. Thus, the history of time in this small country of the Southern Cone exposes us to the "prehistory" of Neoliberalism, at least in its pioneering application in a peripheral country. This is why there is a great interest in reviewing these three recent academic publications (written in Spanish) dedicated to this topic. The goal of this critical discussion is to put into contact different epistemological traditions and different approaches so that those researchers who want to know about the complexities of Chilean (and Latin American) Neoliberalism can participate in this fruitful dialogue. |
