description INTRODUCTION: The purpose of our study is to determine the level of knowledge and skills of the medical students, who are medical candidates for the future, about the subject and the self-confidence of initiating BLS immediately without the 112 emergency aid ambulance crew arriving at the scene in case of a sudden cardiac arrest. METHODS: The participants include 289 freshmen, sophomores, and junior students studying at the Faculty of Medicine,XXXXXX University,XXXXX,Turkey during the 2014-2015 academic year. The effects of gender, driving license, sporting interest, receiving word attack skills education before, receiving word attack skills education at university, having CPR training on the model at university upon the location of press, depth of press, speed of press, and pressure rhythm scores were investigated. RESULTS: 159 students(55.1%) were female and 130 students(44.9%) were male. The number of students with a driving license was 151(52.2%).It was found that the scores for press location of the students who took word attack skills education at university prior to the study were significantly higher than their counterparts with no such education(p=0.003).The scores for press location of the students who received CPR training on the model at university before the study were found to be significantly higher than those with no such education (p=0.009). DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: As a result, medical faculty students who are often capable of reaching the scene faster than the health care professionals in the regions where they live should be provided with BLS trainings down from the start of their education life in an attempt to increase their knowledge and skills.
