| description | This article presents as a proposal, to analyze historically the constitution of manufacturing territories in the textile sector in the State of Alagoas, Brazil, and the urban physiographies that its capital, Maceió, passed under the scope of the modernization and effects of the Industrial Revolution. The notions of territory and space are analytically operated as dynamic constructs, marked by time, constitutive of multiple and dialectical physiographies, and under the effects of power. An example of this universe is the industrial area of Fernão Velho in Maceió-AL, where the former Companhia União Mercantil is located. It is a territory that allowed the capitalist production simultaneous to the control and presence of the workers in the place of production, delineating a complex productive territory formed by factory and working village. In this narrative, I use maps and photographs, as well as visibility of other representations. From the methodological point of view, I operate with the notions of territory and space from Michel Foucault and Michel de Certeau, approaching the manufacturing territory as a disciplinary space. |
