description In the article the author traces the regulation of the obligation and the order of military service by the nobility of the Russian state during the XVIII century. Particular attention is paid to the measures taken by the authorities to compel the nobles and their undergraduates to attend the so-called "reviews", which addressed the issues of sending nobles and their undergraduates to civil or military service, or for training in military-special and other educational institutions. Allocated and describes the characteristics of the passage of the nobility of military service, increasing their ranks and the conditions of their retirement. The paper deals with some problems associated with such a widespread violation of military discipline by officers and non-commissioned officers of the Russian as attempts to evade service. Previously unused sources are introduced into scientific circulation.
