description | Health insurance is very important for workers. All the workers have to choose one hospital for their health care. Hat Yai Hospital has contracts for many office workers, and has 30 private clinics in its network. Each year all the clinics have to be evaluated by The Board of Health Insurance Services of Hat Yai Hospital. This cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate satisfaction with the health care services of the private clinic network of Hat Yai Hospital. Data were collected during July-November 2000 by interviewing 265 insured workers, and in-depth interviews with 30 doctors (the owners of the 30 clinics in the network), proprietors of 2 factories and 2 social welfare officers. The results were : 1) 71.7% of the insured workers were female, average age 37.8 years old, using the service an average of 4.6 ± 2.6 times per year, average 7.8 ± 3.4 minutes for a physical examination. All chose Hat Yai Hospital because of the network of private clinics with high scores. 2) The insured workers were satisfied with the doctors' services, drugs and the aid of the clinics. 3) All 30 doctors, the proprietors of the 2 factories, and the 2 social welfare officers accepted that the private clinic network was needed for the insured workers and their access to the service. All the clinics must be evaluated by internal and external evaluators.
Conclusion: The private clinic is one choice for the insured workers because they can go to see the doctor whenever they get sick so they will not waste their time waiting. The Board of Health must check the quality of care every 6-12 months. |
