Summary:The initial part of this working paper is analyzing the definitions and implications of SMEs within the agricultural and rural setting in Romania. Than the authors analyzes the development process of SMEs and entrepreneurship in Romania from 2000 till 2002 year. Afterwards the authors analyses SME's in total staff of enterprises from industry, construction, trade and other services from their out set in 1992 year until the present time (2002), as and weight of turnover achieved by active SMEs in the turnover of total enterprises from industry, constructions, trade and other services. Finally, the authors analyses state, problems and agricultural development in Romania.
