Description
Summary:The article analyses linguistic relationship between Bulgarian and Romanian languages since the late Middle Ages until today. The earliest available documents – Wallachian Decrees from 14th century – have been studied in which phonetic, morphological and lexical elements of bulgarian origin can be observed. Later influences exercised during 17th, 18th, 19th centuries by Bulgarian immigrant communities in Romania (Wallachia and Transilvania) or by Romanian language as a cultural vehicle in Bulgaria have also been demonstrated. Attention is equally given to most recent linguistic exchanges and their impact on the development of both languages.
