Description
Summary:The objective of this work was to study the influence of the cauliflower mosaic virus on the somaclonal variation in cabbage. For five healthy and virus infected genotypes was establish that, the frequency of calusogenesis and regeneration changes in proportion of 50% depending on plant genotype. The virus infection represents a source of variance of calusogenesis and recombinogenesis with a power in 36% and 18% respectively. In our experiments which were conducted using one and the same genotype, the analysis of variance revealed the highest effect of the explant nature (70%). Observed differences among healthy and virus infected genotypes will undoubtedly affect the somaclonal variation, that is very important, especially from the standpoint of using phytopathogenic viruses as inducers of genetic variability.
