description Introduction: Job stress has negative effects on mental health and occupational performance of employees. The present study aimed to compare job stress and its components among offshore and onshore Oil and Gs company employees in western part of Iran. Methods: The method of the study was comparative causal-descriptive. The statistical population of the study was 800 people which included all offshore and onshore employees of Oil and Gas Company in western part of Iran in 2015, out of which 260 people were chosen as the sample by stratified random sampling. To collect the data the job stress questionnaire of CarenBell Cake (1995) was used. The descriptive statistics included the indexes of minimum, maximum, mean and variation range and the analytical statistics included U Mann Whitney’s test. Results: The results of the study showed that there is a meaningful difference between offshore and onshore employees' job stress (P<0/01).The results also showed that there was a meaningful difference between offshore and onshore employees from the viewpoints of time pressure, method of payment and evaluation, job goals, interaction with machines, physical conditions of workplace, occupational accidents, and decision making in workplace, and outside the workplace stressors (P<0/05). However, there was no meaningful difference between interaction with co-workers and time schedule. Conclusion: There is a significant difference between the job stress off shore and onshore employees.
