description The objective of this study was to analyze information appreciated by mothers/companions regarding care of hospitalized children. The study had a qualitative approach and was conducted in a public pediatric institution, located in the state of Rio de Janeiro, in 2012. Eleven mothers/companions of hospitalized children were interviewed.
