description The article is focused on families living in houses built along the borders of a large regional metropolis located in the northeast of France. The subject is about the everyday life of families who absolutely wanted to get a house located in a housing estate, whatever the cost was. The research is based on thorough talks led at the place of residence of about twenty households, and carried out at the beginning of 2010s. Doing so, we show how much the daily life of our interlocutors is more and more punctuated with moments of doubt which can be gradually transformed into true disenchantment even if there are some moments of enthusiasm.
