description Bilateral blindness secondary to isolated sphenoid allergic fungal sinusitis is rare, particularly in the immunocompetent patient. We describe the case of a 29 year old female who presented with gradual deterioration in vision in both eyes, secondary to an expansile, heterogenous lesion centred in the sphenoid sinuses. Dihisence and lateral distension of the nerves were noted. Following urgent decompression and debridement of the sinus, histology was consistent with a diagnosis of allergic fungal sinusitis. In this manuscript we describe the case in detail and the potential causes of the rare presentation of visual deterioration secondary to allergic fungal sinusitis.
