In the Orthodox understanding, the idea of human freedom and rights are inevitably connected with the idea of service. Rights are needed so that human beings can, in the best possible way, restore themselves to the likeness of God; and in so doing a person should exercise his or her duty before God, the Church, other people, one’s family, the state, the nation and other human communities. The paper examines the approaches to the property rights from Orthodox and Latin Catholic position. The conclusion about the influence which the religious worldview has on the formation of the identity of people in the contemporary Russian and European society was made. |
