Summary: | Violence against women continues to be on the front page of every newspaper: each year more than a hundred women in Italy are killed by men, almost always those who claim to love them. So much was done, and even more is being done; but it seems that this is not enough. Our Association too mobilized, participating in a national campaign to raise awareness and help women who are victims of violence. Violence can have many faces, as victims of violence are not only the killed women, but also those who are beaten, battered, abused, assaulted and scarred − a massacre, an often subdued emergency. Several studies have shown not only that man exercising violence against women have some predisposing factors, but also that women who suffer violence have some risk factors in themselves. These acting outs have consequences, both at psychological and physiological level, depending on the context in which they are stirred, the duration and the severity of violence, and the victim’s coping ability. The post-traumatic stress disorder is very often one of the most serious long-term consequences more strongly associated with all types of violence against women.
