description Composite materials based on conducting polymers are alternatives with equal or better efficiency that metals typically used in fuel cell electrodes. The electrochemical synthesis of polypyrrole/platinum (PPy/Pt) films and their morphological, thermal and structural properties were studied in this paper by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and profilometry. The results show the formation of sandwich type structures and the important stabilization effect that platinum provide to the polymeric film in terms of degradation.
