Description
Summary:The "history of theology" is a recent discipline in Catholic circles. The first university textbooks begans in the thirties of the last century (Martin Grabmann, Luigi Allevi and Fulbert Cayre). After Vatican II, who insisted on an contextualized statement of theological subjects, "history of theology", as a theological discipline, has taken a higher profile in the curricula of theological centers. In the past fifteen years there have been published some books, in several volumes, and, above all, four university textbooks (Rondet Henri, Jean-Pierre Torrell, José Luis Illanes and Josep Ignasi Saranyana, and Juan Belda Plans). This study analyzes the historiographical pros and cons of these manuals, in the context of new historiographical proposals.
