description Starting from the analysis of the language practices of Tunisian speakers and the complex set of representations that accompany them, I will first try to see if the tripartition badume, standards, norms, proposed as an analytical tool for the linguistic situation of Western Brittany, is applicable to the Tunisian linguistic situation; In a second step, I will try to draw from this confrontation a set of general ideas likely to enlighten retrospectively the discussion which will concern the model proposed for analysis, and, possibly, its extrapolation to other linguistic situations. However, this approach does not seem possible without a brief overview of the Tunisian linguistic situation.
