description This paper analyzes the bilingual dinars struck in the Maghreb and al-Andalus. The comparative study of their typologies and their contextualization within Umayyad oriental coins makes some general valuations possible, as well as the formulation of new hypotheses about the symbolism of the star, which is characteristic of the first issues of al-Andalus. Furthermore, the relation between the al-Andalus’ bilingual dinars and the capital status of Córdoba will also be examined.
