Description
Summary:Ibrahim ibn Kumasa replaced his father, the hayib Yusuf ibn Kumasa, at the end of the negociations for the surrender of Granada in 1492. The Catholic Kings thanked him for his collaboration giving him properties and rents. He was also honoured with a nobility after he was christianized as Juan de Granada. It is neither clear his role as collaborationist nor the reasons why he became a Franciscan for a short time. He sold or mortgaged his properties to the marquis of Villena, who gave him the money he needed to go to Barbary where he turned to Muslim faith. When he was about to die, in 1510, he was dealing with count Pedro Navarro the surrender of Algiers Rock and his return to Catholic faith.
