Out of these, the alloys in the Al-Zn system are used predominantly in the aeronautical and machine building industries. In this paper, we investigated the variation in mechanical properties of the AlZn alloy with a Zn content of 4.5%, subjected to a natural ageing treatment with various ageing times. After conducting the research, we found that the mechanical properties studied vary with the natural ageing time and not all of them fit into the prescriptions imposed by the Euronorm in force. The only property whose values fall entirely within the required limits is elongation at breaking.
