description | The author looks at various kinds of discourse construction as applied to migration events in France since 2015. She investigates how the traditional French press functioned in constructing the “migrant crisis” as a media event and how the specialized media re‑signified the way we talk about migrations in the “post–migrant crisis” world. She conducts a qualitative analysis of 160 news items published between 2015 and 2018 in four mainstream media outlets, one news agency, and four journals specializing in migration issues. She also conducted qualitative semistructured interviews with journalists and editors. |
