description <p>The article focuses on the theoretical issues of comprehensive support for children and young people facing a difficult situation. The comprehensiveness implies the unity of scientific approaches in the interpretation of terms and matching the criteria. It also serves as a crucial principle for organizing a study of the problem , as well as the features of performing social and educational activity in this area. The following aspects are taken into account when elaborating the methods of comprehensive support: the essential understanding of the socialization process; the dualistic nature of socialization as the unity of adaptation and self-actualization; and the logic of the age and situation–problem approaches.</p><p>The personality oriented approach and the project-oriented approach to the organization of psychological, medical and social support are discussed as the methodological grounds in this article.</p><p>The simulation of comprehensive support of children and young people facing a difficult situation is based on the “age-normative model of socialization”; its key scheme includes diagnostics, prognosis, and correction.</p><p><strong>DOI: <a href="http://dx.doi.org/10.12731/2218-7405-2013-9-43">http://dx.doi.org/10.12731/2218-7405-2013-9-43</a></strong></p>
