Description
Summary:The article examines the problems and opportunities that need to be considered in research agendas and high-level political negotiations on international migration in Ibero-America. It identifies the emergence of migratory transnationalism, the growth of emigration and the diversification of destinations, the feminization of migration, the mobility of indigenous peoples, the dynamics of qualified migration, the visibility of remittances and the problematics of the human rights of migrants. The issue is all the more acute in the Ibero-American community given the large number of studies that are being carried out and the importance that States have assigned to this subject, to judge by the attention paid it at the Summits of 2005, 2006 and 2007, and by the treatment afforded it at the « Ibero-American Conference on Migration and Development» held in Madrid in 2006.
