Aggregation of platelets presents the key pathophysiological step in the development of cardiovascular diseases; hence, antiplatelet agents remain crucial in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. They may target the three principal phases leading to thrombogenesis, including platelet adhesion, activation, and aggregation.
