description The cartography of globalization through flows is subject to the specificities of the world level, among which the role of space that strongly impacts the vision that is given. This specificity is reinforced by the theme of flows which induces the choice of the signs, their semiology and semantics. If the cartographic construction of the flow is invariant to the theme, the global level induces (carto)graphic effects that must be considered to guarantee the informative nature of the map. Taking them into account leads to question the role of geographical space via the perception of cartographic distance. The subject is illustrated by a multi-representation exercise of world trade flows/movements of Asian origin.
