Description
Summary:Investigations on the researchers’ productivity in certain fields of knowledge are not a new topic. However, the theme of collaboration between authors is a matter of great interest, while at the same time, little investigated, especially when considering the Brazilian environment. With the support of statements about social bases of networks, mainly constructs of interdependence and immersion, the paper aims to analyze the reasons for choices of partners who are co-authors of articles of Finance in Brazil. Were identified and selected the authors of articles published in leading journals of the field in the period 2003-2012; and from questionnaires and interviews, the results suggest that the choice is driven by social variables, such as trust and reputation, although it is a discourse of rationality. It is understood that this article offers a field for future research of high relevance, as it provides another look to explain partnerships in academia.
