Summary: | There are seven known manuscripts of Sancho IV of Castile’s Lucidario, a theological and encyclopedic work composed around 1290 as part of the king’s efforts to condemn the scientific excesses of his father, Alfonso X. This article identifies a new testimony in the ms. Rouen, Bibliothèque municipale Villon A283. After offering a description of the manuscript and a study of its production and arrival in Rouen, I examine its place in the stemma of the Lucidario, and evaluate its utility for a new edition of the book, currently in progress. |
