| Summary: | El artículo nos acerca al debate acerca de la sostenibilidad y la minería, en el contexto de una exacerbada polémica a favor y en contra de esta, considerando al respecto las disposiciones constitucionales en la República del Ecuador. Igualmente presenta una visión de los tipos de minería que se realizan en este país, clasificados por el criterio de su escala. Asimismo, aborda el asunto de la licitud de la explotación minera examinando cinco posiciones posibles frente a la explotación o no de los recursos mineros del Ecuador y el destino del beneficio económico que producen; por último trata la relación entre bienestar humano y cuidado de la naturaleza.
The article brings us closer to the debate about sustainability and mining, in the context of an exacerbated polemic for and against it, considering the constitutional provisions in the Republic of Ecuador. It also presents a vision of the types of mining that are carried out in this country, classified by the criterion of their scale. Likewise, it addresses the issue of the legality of the mining exploitation by examining five possible positions in relation to the exploitation or not of the mining resources of Ecuador and the destination of the economic benefit they produce; Finally, it deals with the relationship between human well-being and nature care.
