Summary:Non-communicable diseases result in more than 63% of all deaths according to the data announced at the meeting on the prevention of non-communicable diseases held by the UN General Assembly in 2011. Such diseases are caused by genetic and socioecological factors, the level of health care system, individual lifestyle (diet, physical activity). Due to morphofunctional characteristics of organs and systems, children are most at risk from exposure to toxic substances contained in food. The article describes exactly what effect the most harmful and common toxicants of food have on the child’s body and provides food safety and nutrition strategies developed at the state level.
